Today we met early for breakfast and planned our day. We were to go off for a bike ride along the Yu Long River. The lonely planet guide book recommended bike Asia for renting bike as you got a better quality bike, whereas Roy said that the bike they rent were perfectly acceptable. I said that I would rather pay a little more and get a better quality bike and some of the others agreed so off to bike Asia we went. 5 of us paid the £3.50 extra and got a light weight, front suspension mountain bike and the others went to Roy's bike shop and got some old fashioned bike with no gears, but they did have a nice basket on the back, lol.
I started tracking the bike ride on my iPhone, but with the other bikes with us it took us a long time to complete the ride and my battery ran out before we finished the whole route. It stopped at 24 miles and just over 5 hours. The total trip was about 30 miles and took about 7 hours. When I get wi-fi I will upload it to Facebook so you can see where I went.
The 5 of us who had paid the extra to get the better bikes were very glad we did and I am sure the others wished that they had too!
In the evening, after the bike ride we all decided to go out for a bit of a session as we all hadn’t really had a big drink up since we get here. Roy took us to a karaoke bar first where we had a few beers and then the tequila slammers came out. After that it was all downhill from there on.
We ended up going to a few other bars and started playing drinking games with some of the locals, including a dice game that I have no idea exactly what the rules were but I seemed to lose very often, which meant I got to down small glasses of Bud quite often.
I have vague memories of coming home at around 2am, but still a bit patchy!
