There was nothing planned today and we were left to our own devices, so Jane, Emma and I headed over to Tiananmen Square as others had been here previously, and much to our amazement it was closed off to the public for some reason by the police and army. We took a couple of pictures of the square from across the road and then joined the crowds on the way up to the Forbidden City. The Forbidden City was absolutely huge with load of different buildings which all seemed to look the same and only contained one throne in the middle of the room. I have attached a couple of photos for you but I will not bore you (or myself again) with any more. The place was absolutely packed and to get anywhere was a real struggle, people were pushing and shoving to get a look at a chair!
Tiananmen Square is..... (sorry Wikipedia is blocked today!)

On the way out of the Forbidden City we spotted someone having some wedding pictures taken along the river surrounding the Forbidden City, so purely being nosey I took one of them so that you could have a look too. Oh, and Jane found a woman sitting by the side of the road with possibly the smallest dog ever so I have attached that also (much more interesting than loads of pictures of buildings that look that same containing one throne!).
