Well we've made it to Australia! Our plans were to keep moving and not stop till we got to Brisbane, where we would get some work and settle down, but once we arrived in Sydney everything seemed to fall into place so we will be hanging around here for a while!
We have settled in an area of Sydney called Darlinghurst and our lodge is in between Kings cross and the city centre so we can walk to anywhere we need to or catch public transport.
Having seen lots of other people's photos from time spent in Sydney its not hard to see why they normally have a collection of shots of the opera house and harbour bridge from various angles, possibly some photos at one of the many zoos and not a lot else!
It's not a bad place but I don't think the camera is gonna get that much use during our time spent here.
This album is gonna be an ongoing collection so keep checking it!
UPDATE 7th September:
We have now set our Sydney leaving date as 27th September when we head on up the east coast and finally see the rest of Austalia!
We're both looking forward to seeing my (Peter's) folks for the first time since we left England back in February. They are due to be joining us this coming Saturday 13th Sept.
We just added another great experience to our list of achievements this year: We took a ferry ride over to Manly and after a romantic stroll along the beach we sat ourselves down on the rocks looking out to sea for a picnic. I decided this would be the perfect loacation to present Jean-Marie with a ring and ask her to marry me! Fortunately for me she said yes and we are now ENGAGED!!
Sydney has turned out to be a pretty nice city to live in over the last few months, I'm sure if circumstances had been different and my English electrical qualifications had been enough to get me some decent work over here then I would even have considered spending longer here. As it is tho Ive had a good time here and although the work I found was rather mind numbing the group of lads I work with have made it more enjoyable.. Jean has also enjoyed her time and her job experience here. Her team did ask her to stay but unfortunately this didnt fit in with our plans, although she would like to persue a career with the same company when we return to the UK.
