16 hours in the Disney Parks on Sunday and another 12 on Monday. Change of plans for our 3rd day in LA... We decided to have a day of rest to be reenergized for another fun-packed day of Disney tomorrow. This morning we slept in (til about 7:30am). Our day began with breakfast at Martha's 22nd Street Grill in Hermosa Beach. A nice drive up the coast (Pacific Coast Highway 1... AKA PCH to the LA folks) led us near Malibu. We then turned back and went to Santa Monica. Parked at a garage along Santa Monica Boulevard and had a leisurely walk around 3rd Street Promenade. We followed this pedestrian-only street of shops up to yet another shopping area. We then stumbled upon a "Market" up on the top level full of artisan food shops, restaurants and cafés. At this point we were ready for a caffeine break. I enjoyed a Lapsang Souchong tea while Pete had a Peach tea from this organic coffee and tea shop called Groundwork Coffee Co. We Also had a couple pastries from a little bakery across from this shop. Our drive continued down the coast and ended up at Venice Beach. This town has a very laid-back beach-vibe similar to Santa Cruz. Beautiful million-dollar mansions along the beach led into a very "colorful" section of Venice. Let's just say this section of the beach was like a mash up of Fisherman's Wharf and Haight Street in SF. Our day ended at ZPizza in El Segundo where we met Melissa for Pizza. Back home now, hitting bed early for our third and final day in Disney.
