Well we managed to survive two different hostels in Bratislava without being chopped up into little pieces. (the film 'hostel' part 1 and 2 are set in the lovely little town of Bratislava and I have found do not correlate with my own experiences here in any way) Still it didn't stop travellers getting scared, after the first films release in 2006 the rate of backpackers visiting Slovakia every month dropped by over 70%. Yesterday evening we found some local music in a place called 'the loch ness Scottish pub' the bartender didn't even speak English. And I'm pretty sure the only thing relating to Scotland was a photo of Nessie on the wall. Still I can think of worse ways to spend a Saturday night than listening to a Slovakian sing 'no woman no cry'.
