ECHUCA-MILDURA-BURRA-COOBER PEDY-ALICE SPRINGS
On the road again after a pause in Victoria, which enabled us to attend more Divine Truth seminars and for Paige to complete her Chiro registration requirements for the year. Whilst here we celebrated Kerry's birthday and saw an amazing musical "MOONSHADOW", a mystical, fantasy that cleverly weaves Cat Stevens music and lyrics throughout! It was truly fabulous- and Yusuf has been bold enough to portray many themes around God, the spirit world, Guardians and Guides, the soul- following your hearts desire, and having the courage to face your fears, journey into the unknown in order to discover and find the 'light' of the creator within us all.
We had no idea what it was about when we booked, and certainly gleaned more from it than anticipated. Definitely one of the best shows we have seen for some time- heart warming in many ways!!! If you love the theatre, you will not be disappointed!! We wanted to line up for the next showing that evening!!!
Our departure timed in well to catch up with friends who have been on the road for almost 12mths, they were flying into Echuca for a week before heading back to the Centre. A slight delay is always worth it when we have the chance to share time with people we love!! Thank you to our beautiful hosts, Jen and Guenter- we promise we won't lob and stay for 7mths!!
From here we made our way to Mildura, after last visits futile attempt to find Kings Billabong, Kerry was determined to walk it. Well, this time by car- eventually, we found it- worth the effort apparently! We stayed a little longer than expected, needed to rectify a few issues with the van- deal with some resultant male emotions, and make our way finally accross the border.
If you need ideas for what to do with pumpkins- ask!!! We had some yummy home grown pumpkins given to us which were gonna be great- until, we realized we had to dump them at the border- so, not happy with that, we par cooked 4 pumpkins and have been eating them for 2 weeks!!! Slightly over orange vegetables at the moment- but was definitely not throwing them out!!!
We basically made a B-line for Alice once we left Mildura- stopping over night in Burra and Coober Pedy. Burra is a weeny little town, but it had awesome woodfire margherita pizza- just no pumpkin please!!!!
We've been a little off with our timing of long weekends- fortunately we decided to call ahead and book the weekend in Alice- apparently its well known that the Finke Race is held Queens Bday wknd every year- well it wasn't well known to us, but we sure know about it now!! Although really, other than the guys working on their rigs next to us in the caravan park, the front page of the local paper was a close to the infamous race as we got! We stayed in Alice for a week, wandered out to East and West MacDonnell Ranges- "Australia's Grande Canyon", and chillaxed for a few days. It's tiring driving 12hrs a day- especially when you spend it doing end of financial year data entry!!!! I am ever so grateful to my previous Bookkeeper extraordinare!!!
Rested and revived, (The Big4 in Alice as a very clean Bath tub!!!), we headed north along the Stuart Hwy towards Devils Marbles- Karlu Karlu, and arrived just in time to wander through this amazing geological formation as the sun was saying goodnight. The camp ground was fairly cosy, but enough for some shuteye and a sunrise viewing over the marbles.
We have been experimenting with some video footage- snapshots, if you like of the places we visit. So far they have been placed on my Facebook page and we are hoping to upload them to YouTube (once I figure out how it all works). If we get enough subscribers, we might even get paid for doing what we love, traveling around Australia-- how cool would that be!
