Our last full day in Europe has arrived. We caught the train at 10 and 45 minutes later we were in Koblenz. After a quick stop at the TI to get a map we headed for the German Corner where the Mosel meets the Rhine and where there is a huge statue of Wilhelm I. Along the way, we caught a cable car across the Rhine and to a fortress overlooking the city. There has been a fortress of some sort here since the Bronze Age. We toured around and then headed back down for lunch and a break from the heat.
Rod stopped to buy a pocket knife he had seen earlier and we asked the shopkeeper where to get good schnitzel. He directed us to Alte Brauhaus, a block away. We really should have shared one...they were huge! While we were eating it got really dark and when we got back on the street it was raining. Luckily I still had the Amsterdam umbrella! We did a bit of shopping and then headed back to the train.
In Limburg, we got some groceries for dinner and then headed back to the flat for the night. Time to clean up and pack...tomorrow we head home!
