After catching the noon ferry and dropping the truck at the Park & Fly, we arrived at the Vancouver airport almost 4 hours before our flight. With a lot of time to kill after checking our bags, we explored almost every inch of the airport including outside where we found a little park/pathway nestled between two busy roads right outside the airport! Much nicer than sitting inside the hot and stuffy terminal.

Our flight was as good as a 10-hour flight can be. We paid a little extra to select our seats when we booked so we had lots of leg room and could stand up and stretch. We were also on one of the new Air Transat planes which was actually really nice. We didn't get much sleep but arrived safe and on time which is really all that matters!

Next, it was on to the train from Frankfurt to Coesfeld. Being Friday afternoon, it was standing room only to start with and we were thinking it was going to be a really long 4 hours. Fortunately, lots of commuters got off at the first stop and we were able to get seats. Over 24 hours after leaving our house we arrived in Gescher, our home for the next 5 days. Despite being over-tired, we sat on the patio with Olaf & Sabine until almost 11 pm! Finally, it's bedtime and I'm praying the jet lag doesn't kick in and leave us lying wide awake at 3 am!
