So hello again
Its been a while since my last update, hope you havent missed me too much, this means a long update you think?Well yes but I will spare you and summarise!
Left Thailand with Nik and Abi and after two days made it to Malaysia.Stayed at v friendly guesthouse (owner walked through rain to bring us umbrellas where we weer eating and then had tea and fruit ready for our return to hostel). Got teh Jungle train down to Jerantot.Basically a 12 hour tain through the middle of Malaysia and through the rainforest, nice views, but 12 hours is a tad overkill on trees! We thought it would take 7!
Abi then went to Kuala Lupur since she ahtes animals while Nik and I went to Teman Negara National Park, in teh middle of what is possibly oldest rainforest in the..150 million yrs old (older even than Amazon).Went on day trek so up at 4 (it was fourth night in a row we had woken up at 4-4.30, CRAZY!!) and then bus to forest then terkking.Hired some funky green jungle boots (not) and went on scary canopy walk where Nik was truly nto a happy bunny..Longest and highest rope caopy walk in the world, and at 45m above jungle floor it erally felt it, especialyl when you were swaying and wobbling!
On way down from a two hour mammoth hill trek to see some pretty views (blah blah) we spotted a wild boar. Being stupid, I followed it and got to 2 metres of it before other noisy german tourists scared it away but thankfully didnt gore me, was v lucky to see animals since they are usually only out at night or far far away from people!Made it all worthwhile!
Went on wooden speedboat (i seem to be attracted to this type) through river rapids where we got thoroughly soaked and freezing cold cos it was raining then, and then found out that in the swimming area in the park where we were heading to go for swim, three people had drowned two missing and one in coma, all earlier that day.It was a big reality shock. They were only school kids from Kuala Lumpur.
Got night train to Kuala Lumpur, but only seats free were economy tho not at all as bad as i thought, and then i met my uni friend Su Sian and Boon.Spent the last few days at her house living in luxury.Been bliss.Boon and Su Sian have taken me driving..yes private car not bus or train!...round KL (as its cool to call it), and seen a ll the sights and theyve treated me to a number of amazing meals.Have eaten frogs, century eggs (not actaully 100yrs old as i thought but only a few days buried in the soil with ash), stingray, Pork and Duck Intestine (rubbery and smooth with nice flavour not at all like poo), and chicken feet (cartiledge and bone and skin, was difficult to take first bite!).
Leaving KL tomoro evening for Jakarta, have had an absolutely amazing time, but now its pouring with rain, and i mean POURING!!so happy reading everyone
Stil missing you tho Su sian has incredibly cute dogs which serve as my hug replacements!
