Not doing much here, just mainly getting laundry done and getting ready for the rest of the trip. Pouring rain so we canceled our plans for a side trip to the Alaska Wildlife Preserve as it is mostly outdoors.

Well, we made it! Of course it was never a question of making it for Tim-it was only me that had the question mark. This was definitely the most challenging ride of my life, we rode through every road type imaginable, dirt, sand, gravel, chip seal, broken black top and wonderful mud....We went up mountains and down mountains. Switchbacks and 12% grades with sharp curves at the end. No guard rails and drop offs that were very intimidating. Wildfires burning in...

Rode in and out of rain today but no downpours which is good. We're within sight of the Alaskan Mountain range but we are unable to see them due to the smoke from the many wildfires that are burning. Hoping for good weather tomorrow as I try to reach the Arctic Circle via the Dalton Highway. There is no cell service and no wifi where we are going so no posts until we get back to Fairbanks on Saturday.

Made it to Alaska! Today was a real challenge for me-did something I would never have dreamed of doing-rode the Top of the World Highway. The day started out with rain and a very scary ride down and on to a ferry across the Yukon River. Tomorrow we head for Fairbanks and my next big challenge- Riding to the Arctic Circle on the Dalton on Friday.

Rode through total wilderness to get to the highest city in the Yukon. Results of previous forest fires have left their mark over miles and miles of land. A lot of gravel and dirt riding today, all good practice for the Top of the World Highway tomorrow. We arrived in Dawson City about 7:00 pm and it's like going back in time.
