Woke to heavy showers and went out in search of breakfast. This hotel consists of several huge towers with an enormous lobby and roads, shops and restaurants throughout. You could spend a week here just at the hotel and not see everything. Possibly what most people do! There are a lot of Japenese tourists here! The prices are quite high especially with our poor exchange rate at present. Had breakfast at Starbucks which seemed a little cheaper than most. I ordered a 'Frappachino' (I think it was called) and it was a cold caramel flavoured coffee with a think layer of cream on top. I had a pastry with it which was quite nice. We had booked a trip to the Arizona memorial at Pearl Harbour at 10.00AM and the minibus came but we had a bit of trouble finding it. The lobby where the busses pull in is similar to Sydney Airport with a continuous stream of vehicles pulling in. The driver eventually rang Lisa (another advantage of getting a local sim card) and described the minibus he was in. Eventually we located it and we departed. Pearl Harbour was very interesting, well presented and very sobering. Took the boat out to where the USS Arizona was sunk and there is a permanent memorial built above it like a shrine with all the names of the 1,177 sailors that died on Dec 7 1941. Returned via the 'Downtown' (as Americans call their CBD)of Honolulu and back to Waikiki for lunch and a bit of a walk around before going to a Caberat at the hotel here which was great. Lots of trapeeze acts etc. Had a nightcap with Mark and Lyn before turning in at about midnight. Still lots of people swimming and sitting in bars.
