Awoke to a nice day and decided to drive down the west coast of The Big Island. Found a nice beach at Kailua and had a swim there. Bought some lunch at an ABC shop which are everywhere. We had got a cooler box from the resort so put our lunches in there for later. Wandered around the shops for a while then drove further south towards the spot where Capt. Woke to heavy rain. We had some left over fruit salad so ate this and then packed. Checkout time was 11:00am so had a swim in the rain in one of the pools beforehand. Left our luggage with the bell service guys and went for a walk. Had lunch at Denny's Diner, a US chain and I ordered the daunting 'All Americam Slam' which was basically bacon, scrambled eggs, a couple of thin sausages and toast. Very nice! Woke to heavy showers and went out in search of breakfast. This hotel consists of several huge towers with an enormous lobby and roads, shops and restaurants throughout. You could spend a week here just at the hotel and not see everything. Possibly what most people do! There are a lot of Japenese tourists here! The prices are quite high especially with our poor exchange rate at present. Had breakfast at Starbucks which seemed a little cheaper than most. I ordered...

Sadly had to pack to leave Kauai today. Drove to the airport, returned the car and checked in. We had a good run through security but they had the full body scanners in operation for most. Today was also 9/11 so everone was a bit edgy. Flew to Honolulu and got a shuttle bus to Waikiki Hilton Hawaiian Village. It's huge, like a small town. We had booked to go tubing today and Lyn and Mark were going zip-lining. Both of these activities ran from the same spot which we had to drive to. Would have been difficult without a car!
