Left the cold behind as we headed for Sydney and on to Honolulu where we landed before we started according to my watch. We got to have another Sat Sept 5.
Got through customs and found the interisland terminal where we settled into a massage chair for a few minutes of unpleasant back manipulation.
Mark and Lyn weren't so lucky. They had flown from Melbourne and arrived an hour after us but Mark got 'detained' by customs and may appear on an episode of 'Border Security' soon! They only just got to the gate on time for the 40 minute flight from Honolulu to Lihue on the island of Kauai.
Note to self: Probably a good idea to book a car ahead of time. It was hot and although we had 'slipped into something more comfortable' at the airport (a bar would have been nice) it was about 31 deg C and it made it a bit hard to think clearly. That and the fact that we hadn't had much sleep during the night. We got a car in the end and after we had to agree to sell our first born to the car company we were off. Mark agreed to drive and so we can blame him if we die!
It's a long time since I drove on the right hand side of the road and my memories are not good. Mark is doing a spendid job and I figure if it aint broke don't fix it.
The resort was lovely and although check in was at 4.00PM and it was only 1.30PM we had a wander around and went to a Safeway Supermarket a bought essentials, like beer.
Came back and made sandwiches and waited until 4.00PM. We all dozed a bit and finally got our room which was very nice. 2 bathrooms, 2 bedrooms and although not quite up to the standard of 'The Palace of the Golden Horses' in KL which is our new time share benchmark, very nice cool and comfortable. We ate in, drank beer (Heinekin and Stella) and slept very well.
