Auf friedersein frauline and Hello sailor !
We were woke up again by the bloody church bells it was sunday and it was accompanied by the choir singing too. I was glad we were leaving as i could get some sleep without mary bloody singing. We packed up and the german frauline offered a lift to the train station for 50 kuna, it was well overpriced really but we couldnt be bothered walking it was 10:30 and red hot.
When we got to the bus station we asked about buses and there was on to rijeka at 12:30, we said ok bought them and went to the supermarket over the way for breakfast. I bought a cooked chicken leg and copey opted for some dodgy looking spreads for lunch. While we were waiting our frauline came and see was pestering some people everytime the bus pulled up, she must of known the bus timetable like the back of her hand. I got asked twice by another women if i needed a room, twice i said no im leaving.
The bus finally came and we walked to our seat numbers, some women was in our seat, we didnt bother and sat down near them, then some other women came over and said somethings wrong, then the women in the wrong seat piped up, im not moving no more someones in my seat, ok love calm down its only a bus journey! The bus journey was long 5 hour, seems nearly every bus journey here is that long, with limited trains its the only was to travel, it is quite cheap though as all fares tend to be around 180 kuna about £20.
We got off at rijeka and there was no body around selling rooms, we though s*** the only town in croatia where we havent been pestered. We asked where the tourist agency was, the women didnt really know but said the town centre. We walked towards it when an old guy said are u after a room? I give you our spare room for €15 each. We went to have a look, it was okay , the man was a sailor who had been to england plenty of times before so he could speak good english and told us a story about his son escaping the twin towers disaster by 5 minutes. We decided to stay one night and head off to pula the next day down the coast. The toilet in this place was flushed by using a handle attached to a pipe, both of us immiediatly said have you used that toilet its mental!
We walked around the town and found a fries and surf place again, i love this shop its the only place you can get real chips. Rijeka has free wifi so i managed to book us some accomodation in pula right in the city centre. We then decided to watch germany batter australia, which they did in the truley german efficient way which we have come to expect. We walked back to the house and got some sleep, although it was on the main road and this city didnt seem to sleep, i could hear buses, garbage men and people shouting and beeping their horns all night.
