Paul & Linda's International Adventures
After our last ill natured entry (ooh err!) thought we owed you a proper update.
Our 6 months in Oz are nearly up now, and we will be leaving Adelaide in just over a week. Although we've loved it here, we are looking forward to getting our teeth into some proper travel again. It's all too easy! We miss living in fear of being relieved of our money, passport and vital organs by a moustachioed dude in a dusty back alley where nobody can hear or understand our cries for help!
A couple of weeks back we took a trip to central Australia, taking in Alice Springs, Ayers Rock (Uluru), the Olgas and Kings Canyon. We finally felt like we had hit the Australia of our imaginations. Cruising through the desert surrounded by red dirt as far as the eye can see and not much else beside the odd pack of wild camels was a real experience. Ayers Rock was awesome (in the true sense of the word). We weren't expecting too much: it's just a big rock right? But once we were standing in front of it, we were blown away. King's Canyon was also amazing. Walking along the top of the canyon, we felt like were on another planet, it was the most alien terrain we have ever experienced and has apparently been used in movies as the surface of Mars.
Since Alice we've pretty much working while day dreaming about our onward trip and brushing up on our Spanish. Feels like we are setting from home all over again.
Gotta go now - Paul is doing a gig in a couple of hours - wish him luck!
Lots of love,
Linda & Paul
