We arrived in Penang to a nice chilled hostel (apart from an angry bald American man who referred to us as 'the drunk brits' and a dog sized rat!). The first night we went to another food market, which was actually pretty rubbish. The weather was a bit hit and miss but we did manage to get the sky train up to Penang Hill, which has amazing views over the island.
Penang is probably our least favourite place we've been as there's not a lot to do. We have however gained a couple of travel friends called Alex and Amanda who have joined us here in Langkawi.
Unfortunately for Joe, minutes after our ferry left Penang he realised he'd left his phone on his bed so he had to go back and get it - 9 hours of ferries and a lonely night in Penang!
We both LOVE it here in Langkawi although we have thought that about practically everywhere we've been in Malaysia. Its much more built up than the Perhentians, but the sunsets here are incredible! We have spent much of our time sunning ourselves on the beach and watching sunsets with 30p beers- which will never get old.
We did make time in our busy schedules to rent a super car to explore the island the other day. First stop was a stunning waterfall where me and the boys did rock jumping and other manly stuff while the girls chilled in the water pools. Once back in the car we realised my foot was leaking blood all over the place....and soon found a disgusting leech in the foot well looking plump and pleased with itself after feeding on my toe for the past 15 minutes or so. Nice.
Next stop was a crocodile farm - which was surprisingly good with some enormous beasts but also some deformed crocs. We also got to watch feeding time- which was nuts!
Today is a bit of a recovering day from a late night drinking free booze! We only have 2 more days here before heading up to Koh Tao in Thailand where we will be joined by a group of home friends- you know who you are! We're so excited about that week!!
That's all for now- next update probably in a week or so!
