Well, I think the saying should be all roads lead to Rome but not necessarily easily !!!
I am so proud of us for not only making it to our hotel in one piece but then continuing to drive through the centre of Rome past all the ruins and Colosseum in the middle of the day !! Not only did we not hit anything but we both stayed very cool and calm. I have however never been so happy to return a car as I was today. Paolo Peugeot treated us very kindly and as I parked for the last time at the main station I did apologise for the number of times I went into the wrong gear.
After we got back to the hotel we grabbed a quick bite for lunch and then hit the streets walking across the road to the Trevi fountain and then up towards the Palazzo Venezia.
Tonight we went for a long walk around the ruins and to the Colosseum and watched a very talented young woman spray paint a picture , Elliott felt very attached to the finished product so it is coming home with us.
