We arrived in Brisbane on Sunday night.
We caught the train from the airport in the CBD, booked two nights accommodation at an internet cafe, got on the bus and asked the bus driver to stop as close to the Snooze Inn as he could. So he stops the bus on the right street, then screams at the top of his voice to the rest of the bus "DOES ANYONE KNOW WHERE THE SNOOZE INN IS? THESE GUYS NEED TO GET THERE!" We were pointed in the right direction by a nice chap. Needless to say it was an hilarious moment!
We didn't do a great deal in Brisbane. We opened a bank account, registered with a couple of employment agencies, and then decided we didn't really like it that much, so after two nights got on a train to the Gold Coast.
We spent three nights in a motel, and today we are moving into a one bedroom apartment in Surfers Paradise. We got a three month lease - have applied for loads of jobs in the area and are quite excited at being in Australia!
The week before we left NZ, we didn't manage to sell the car ourselves, so left it with an auction house. Yesterday it sold for $770, so are please about that. We got rid of all our camping gear, some clothes and other items to the Salvation army. It was easier to do that than to try and find a car boot sale in Auckland. And now we are back to having only stuff we can carry on our backs in one backpack!!
Anyway, must go and do unemployed things!
