From Keri Keri, we decided to drive around the scenic route to Russell, instead of taking the ferry across. We thought that it would be rather expensive and the drive wouldn't take us too long. How wrong we were! The ferry would have taken about 20 mins + short drive. Our route was approx 80km over mountains (again!) and took about 2 hrs! I…
Pam and Jan are off on our trip of a lifetime around Australia, so please all keep in touch.

We'll spend a week discovering Perth (look out Perth!) and then take the quick way back to Melbourne with the help of virgin blue!

Good job you two old birds left for NZ!
The Australian authorities fear about 20 people have died as a result of one of the worst heatwaves in 100 years to hit the south-east of the country.
Most of them were elderly people who had been struggling in the heat.
The heatwave has also caused power outages in Melbourne, Australia's second biggest city.
Extreme temperatures of more than 40C (104F) have hit the south-eastern states of Victoria and South Australia in the past three days.
