After the heavy visitation rates of the spectacular Arches NP and the local town of Moab we headed west on Highway 70 en route to Zion NP in the SW of Utah. The motorways in the US were busy and fast. The road corridors were completely devoid of any trees. In fact I have come to the conclusion that Americans hate trees in any public spaces. Finding shade to shelter from the hot sun was almost impossible even in rest areas, gas station carparks and cafe's car parks.
