Wednesday 16th - Broome
Spent the afternoon chilling on the beach and watched the most beautiful sunset!
Thursday 17th - Broome
We left for our 6 day Kimberley tour. Our first stop was the Prison Boab Tree, it was massive. We then went to Windjana Gorge where we saw lots of freshwater crocs! We got very close. We then went to a bat cave and were up to our thighs in water in the pitch black. Good job we had torches (thanks mum and Paul). We got to bush camp, set up our swags and had our first pee in the bush!!! The stars were amazing! This place was magical.
Friday 18th - The Kimberley
We drove to Halls Creek (where the film 'Wolf Creek' was filmed) and then onto Purnululu National Park - The Bungle Bungles. We did the Echidna Chasm walk. We then headed to a nicer campsite with a toilet. Here we had our first bikini shower with a cold water hose!
Saturday 19th - The Kimberley
We had 'campakes' for breakfast. We drove to the Bungle Bungles and put on our walking boots, we walked for about 2 hours to Picaninny Creek and Catherdral Gorge - the scenery was beautiful! We then drove towards El Questro cattle station and bush camped for the night - again no toilets or showers! We had kangaroo for dinner and learnt the 'shake a leg' dance round the campfire!
Sunday 20th - The Kimberley
We arrived at El Questro cattle station and walked up to Emma Gorge, we had to climb over rocks! We all got in and the water was freezing. We then drove to Amalia Gorge, this walk was abit easier but we did have to take off our backpacks and slide across a cliff top! We spent some time laying in the sun at a rock pool! We stayed the night at El Questro and could have a proper shower here. We had custard for dessert! Such a treat!!!!
Monday 21st - The Kimberley
After bacon and eggs for breakfast, we drove to Zebedde Hot Springs, which was like a natural warm bath. We then drove to Kununnara and then a few more hours to Lake Argyle which is Australia's largest man made lake. Another night of sleeping under the stars!
Tuesday 22nd - The Kimberley
Had 'campakes' for breakfast again. We drove to Edith Falls, the water was cold so didn't get in for a swim. We carried on driving to Darwin and arrived at 5pm. We went to our tour afterparty at The Vic. We got free food and beer all evening!
Wednesday 23rd - Darwin
Spent the day wandering round Darwin. It is very hot here!
Thursday 24th - Darwin
Went on our 2 day Kakadu tour. We went to a Jumping Crocodile cruise which was pretty good, we saw some massive saltwater crocs! We went for several walks in the National Park. Some of it involved climbing but we had some fantastic views (and snacks!).
Friday 25th - Kakadu National Park
We drove to Gunlom Falls, the walk up was quite tricky but it was beautiful when we got to the top pool. It was so hot that we all got in for a swim! We then walked down to the second pool, barefoot and in bikini's!! This again was amazing, it was abit colder but even more beautiful! It looked like an infinity pool! We then put on our walking boots to walk the rest of the way down to the last pool. The drive back to Darwin seemed to take forever! Our hostel had messed up our booking so gave us 'a hotel room'. This was luxury - we had towels, tv and free tea and coffee!!
Saturday 26th - Darwin
We had to do laundry!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We then went to the wave lagoon, which was so much fun. We have rubber rings and just floated around, if only it was that simple. We spent most of the time getting carried away and clinging onto each other which nearly broke our arms! We then went to Crocodile Cove, this is like an aquarium in the middle of town. It was quite small so didn't take long to walk round. We saw some massive crocs and then got in the 'Cage of Death', this was a strange experience! We were in a cage and put in three different tanks with 4 crocs. We got pretty close and saw some teeth!! That evening we went to The Tap with a few people from our Kimberley tour, well it was our last night in Australia so we treated ourselves to a jug of beer!
Sunday 27th - Darwin (today)
Checked out of our 'hotel room' this morning and headed to town for the internet. We are hoping to go to the market later before flying to New Zealand tonight. Just enough time for our last Iced Coffee!
Can't believe we have come to the end of our stay in Australia, we really have had the time of our lives!
Catch up with you all in New Zealand, we are hoping its going to be 'sweet as'.
