So a few lessons we are starting to learn...
1.) Never assume anything
2.) Always expect the worst
3.) To the kids out here we are big funny Giants to gawp and laugh at
4.) Never ask what meat it is that your eating
5.) Beeping the horn constantly is the norm, however annoying it is!
After quite a few hours of very broken and uncomfortable sleep we gather our things ready to get off the train, we were going by the times on the ticket, wrong! We are instructed back to our cabin by a very cross and stern lady as apparently we will not arrive till 7am, let's see how that turns out.
Half past 7 and we are finally off the train, hoarded by taxi men, scooters, bikes trying to take us anywhere and everywhere (not what you need after that 12 hour journey) we politely escape and head for drinks, book a hotel room and hope they'll let us leave our bags so we can go sleep on the beach or something. But, even better we arrive and in five minutes they have our room ready, amazing they let us check in at 8:30am...bonus!
Morning nap is taken then afternoon calls for two sun loungers, a coconut, swim gear...done. Prior to this we ate at seafood restaurant chose a fish swimming around in a plastic crate and pay slightly over what we were told haha (quoted per kilo, not entire fish) but hey another learning curve, but an amazing banquet to set us up for the day.
After another chill out and small nap we head out to go and check out the bridges and city at night. Ended up walking a six mile circular which was well worth it seeing three of the main bridges, the city lit up at night which was incredible and a good introduction to Vietnamese street Food, tonight's being duck soup filled with lentils and an amazing stock! (And Oreos to which it is now our goal to taste every flavour, so far we've eaten; blackberry strawberry, coconut and peanut butter! A-mazing!) after a lazy morning we headed in the hotel taxi for just $10 all the way to Hoi An.
