Well it took nearly 2 hours and 3 buses, each one hotter than the last, but I finally made it up Table Mountain. Table View to Civic Centre...hot. Civic Centre to Kloof Neck...oven on wheels. Lower Tafelberg to Upper Tafelberg? Hotter than the sun!
Up in the rotating Cable Car, 3,500ft above sea level. I didn't really think I was scared of heights. I am when I'm that high. The scenery though was beautiful, I felt very lucky to be there walking around and soaking up the breathtaking views.
After I'd walked around for a bit and made a few purchases at the gift shop (yes Mum and Dad, you got something!) I decided to go and have some lunch at the Table Mountain Cafe. Would have been rude not to try their own brand wine too... And it was only 38 ZAR, which is like 2.50, I'm drinking here all the time! Table for one please!Decided to brave the ostrich pie, then felt guilty as I'm meant to be saving the birds, not eating them. Oops.The waitress came to collect my wine and asked me if I was feeling tipsy and laughed, she had a star jewel on her tooth so I think she was a bit of a party girl/kindred spirit. I laughed it off and said I had only had the one...then stumbled as I got up to leave. African Me was so right, I blame the altitude.
