It's not noon yet, but I couldn't resist the beer sampler. Two stouts, a porter and a dark lager. Lager is good for a lager, but it's my least favorite. Others are excellent, especially the Víking Stout. Also consuming a waffle sandwich. It's eaten with knife and fork, but it's two waffles, each with a fried egg (over medium) ham and bacon.

The inspiration behind this entire trip was to attend this concert tonight. Jón Leifs' Edda Part 2, The Lives of the Gods. Finished in 1966, premiered tonight. The choir part is very demanding. So, intermission. I am quite sure any of you actually reading this I have never heard of the composer. 1899 to 1968 are his dates. Many of you may not even enjoy listening to it. Hall tour in five minutes. Just met a guy in the symphony office with whom I have been corresponding about a translation for tonight's work. He took me back stage and on stage for tonight's music. The tour I'm going to have will not go there. In the photo you can see part of the percussion section. Note large hammer to left. I can't wait! There are also offstage parts for tympani and lur.

Jan and I went to this old jazz club last night to catch a local quintet. Very nice.

I am only allowed to post one picture per blog. There's got to be another way but I haven't figured it out yet. The Viking ship museum is really neat. Five ships had been scuttled a thousand years ago to block access to a bay. The ruins were discovered in the 1960s and then carefully excavated. They put all five ships back together with the pieces that remained. Then they also build sailing replicas but used ancient techniques and tools, no power equipment.
