Happy birthday to me!!!! well i didnt mant to be in the city for my birthday so before we travelled to phnom penh to meet claire and matt chris whisked me off to the seaside and a tropical island for my 23rd birthday! Kep is a lovely old seaside town ,which was once the placce to be for wealthy cambodians; unfortunately recent history has taken its toll and the occupation by the khmer rouge in the 90's is clearly evident. crumbling, bullet ridden lone walls are all that stand where grand french colonial mansions once were, and the town has a ghostly feel to it. Howeer the people are so lovely and the gem of Kep is a beautiful, island called Rabbit island 20mins off the shore. Only 5 families live there in wooden shacks and it is so beautiful! i have to admit i even ate some crab there (only a little bit does that count?!) as the seafood is meant to be the best in the whole of cambodia oops but it was very nice!! we spent a gorgeous day there chilling out, playing cards, swimming and sunbathing! and to make the day even better there was a candy imposter on the island - chek out the photo!!!

we ended the day in the lovely bar in our amaaazing guesthouse Kep Lodge and they got me a cake and everyone sang and we had a little party! i have even improved slighlty at pool as they had a free table!!! Dan even played the amelie soundtrack for me! we saw the most incredible sunset and it was my best birthday ever!! (although i did miss you all) We even took claire and matt to kep lodge (more on that later) as we really wanted to go back!!!
