Hello everyone!
We are back in civilisation after spending the last 5 days camped out in the forest at Fall, Germany near the Austrian border. From there we have been hiking in the Alps in the Karwendelbirge mountain range over the border in Hinteriss, Austria. It is an absolutely stunning area and very remote, with unbelievable views. The weather has been great, with only one rainy day so far! It has been a bit chilly at night, a little taste of what's to come......
We spent our first week hiking in the Black Forest after a brief stopover in Luxembourg on route from Calais. We didn't really see much of Luxembourg (it was flat and very clean) just caught up on sleep and stocked up with a bit of food/fuel (fuel cheap, food expensive) and ate a Belgian waffle covered in chantilly cream the size of our heads.
Rudy is having the time of his life exploring the forests and mountains. He loves life on the road and nosing at all the comings and goings at the campsites. He is a real hit with all the locals and tourists. The Japanese tourists can't get enough of him and keep taking his photo like he is some kind of superstar!
Yesterday we arrived at one of our favourite motorhome stopovers from our last trip... Alpencamp w***! We are having a couple of days rest before we tackle the climb up Mount w***. So giving the legs a bit of a rest and just exploring around the town and getting into the Oktoberfest spirit and sampling the local beers. Rudy's favourite so far is the Hacker-Pschorr!
Have just checked the weather forecast for tomorrow and we have snow on the way with temperatures reaching - 4 overnight. Time to unpack the thermals!!
From here the plan is to head for The Dolomites via Austria. Looks like we will get to test out the new snow tyres sooner than we thought!
Bye for now Sarah, John and Rudy x
