Another 5am start today and a slap up 6am breakfast of bacon eggs and pancakes to start the day! How I managed to force it down at that time I still dont know! We headed straight back over the border into the USA in the morning so we could see the falls from the 'American' side. Everyone says the Canadian side is better as you can see the falls straight on but the American side was also fascinating as you can actually stand right near the edge where the water goes over. It's amazing to see the power and speed if the water from this side.
We headed off to the world famous 'Maid of the Mist' boat tour actually in the falls. As we headed towards the boat we were given very flattering poncho waterproofs which gave me a good idea we were gonna get very wet. However I was wrong, we got SOAKED and blown around like we were in a storm!! As we heaed down the river towards the falls the views were amazing, as you get closer you can feel the mist, like light rain. As we headed right in to the falls the light rain soon changed to a rainstorm and we got totally drenched by the 'mist'! The view (if you could keep your eyes open long enough) was extrodinary and noise and force of water was so powerful! What an experience to get that close to such an amazing icon. I felt very lucky.
Once we were off the boat and dried off we headed over the bridge, seeing where we had just been, from a drier point of view!!
After taking a walk around the American side of Niargra falls, we got to see the rivers leading up to the falls all around. There were also a lot of power stations around, using the force of the falls to generate power for the city. Most of them are unused now but some are still going. They were lovely building though, I must say- dotted all the way around the whole area.
With a 9 hour trip home ahead it was time to head back. Along the way we stopped in Pennsylvania for a little retail theory in form of outlet stores!! Guess, Ralph Lauren, you name it!! I couldnt wait!! I was really suprised to see the prices after the exchange rate and thought, how can I not??!! I treated myself to a Guess handbag with matching purse as well as some lovely gifts for my friends before heading back feeling very pleased with myself but also thinking- how the hell am I going to get this in my suitcase!!! After shopping we went for a chinese buffet lunch, which I have to say, even though I didnt want it at first, the but that I did hvae was very tasty!!
After another 5 hours on the coach and we were back in New York!! It felt like arriving home!! We headed back to the New York hostel, Amanda went off to bed to prepare for a busy day of sghtseeing the next day. I decided to go out and hit the town with Sebastian, we found some more great lunges, had some drink and danced the night away!!
Once again before we knew it the sun had come up and it was time for him to go to work and for me to embrace another day in the city that never sleeps!!
