Well I've got a lot to write cos i've not really written anything in a long time, been busy enjoying Christmas and having my parents over.
PHUKET
Phuket was great. Ant & I stayed on Patong beach for the first 4 days before my parents arrived and just spent it being lazy on the beach. We did some shopping, preparing ourselves for when we get to Perth and need to job hunt. I bought some office clothes and Ant bought some new tops. We spent a bit of time on the internet flat hunting and job hunting. I have lined up a couple of inteviews with recruitment agencies for when we arrive.
Mum & Dad arrived on Sunday 17th December and we went to meet them at the airport, it was a big surprise for them, and Mum said she hardly recognised us at first because of our great tans. Kamala Beach where we all stayed was very nice, much quieter then Patong but it did't matter cos that meant if we wanted it livelier we just got a taxi back to Patong.
We did many things with mum and dad. On my birthday we went to see a show called Fantasea, which was a big cultural thing, it was very colourful and probably very interesting if we could understand it a bit better, it was a bit slow in parts and very boring, but the park they set it in was unbelievable - it was so bright and like a theme park it was hard to imagine it was in the same village as Kamala (which is such a quiet place!). On the Thursday night we went to watch Thai boxing in Patong, this was very good, there were about 9 fights on and Anthony and Dad had their pictures taken with some of the boxers. We all lazied on the beach, round the pool and generally treated like a holiday. On Christmas Eve we stayed at my mum and dads hotel as they had a Gala evening on, with a big buffet meal and some entertainment. Quite an evening, not really to everyones taste i think but we made a good night out of it. On Christmas day we sunbathed on the beach and then at about 7pm we went into Patong and had a gorgeous Christmas Dinner in an Irish Bar, all the works - Turkey, roasties, cauliflower, even sprouts!
Well our time with my parents wen really quick and the 27th came round in no time. Ant & I left earlier than my parents on the 27th for our flight to Kuala Lumpur.
KUALA LUMPUR
We arrived in the evening on the 27th and checked into our hotel, even though it was dark we could tell it was close to everything because we could see the Petronas Twin towers really close. We only had one day here so went straight to the Twin Towers to take pictures, there were no tickets left by the time we got there to go up to the viewing platform but it didn't matter becaue we got some great photo's from the street. We saw a hop on hop off sightseeing bus so thought we'd go on this - it was free because it was its launch day. Well, that was hilarious, it went in a square just around the block - we got to see the Twin Towers again but that was it, when we asked why they told us it didn't officially open till tomorrow so that day was just a taster (it really was a taster!)
SINGAPORE
We arrived in Singapore yesterday after a 9 hr train ride from KL, it wasn't that bad, we had booked first class and the seats we're really comfortable. We checked into out hostel last night but weren't very happy with it. When we booked it they said it was a 8 bed dorm but there were actually about 30 beds all together they had the air conditioning on all night so we were freezing and it made loads of noise, plus because there were so many beds people we coming and going all night. The toilets and showers were on the floor below and there were about 4 showers and 4 toilets but they were also unisex, i did not like it and we spoke to the reception and they gave us a full refund which is amazing, so now we've booked into a cheap hotel we've found for about the same price.
New Years Eve tomorrow and we are planning on spendning it down at th harbour where they have got a huge fireworks display planned. Hope everyone back home has a brilliant New Years and don't get too drunk (ah its New Years Eve, get wasted!)
Next report will be from Perth Australia, we fly there on the 4th January 2007 - can't wait.
See ya
Nic & Ant
P.S Don't think i'll be able to put photo's on just yet as internet is slow and expensive, i'll try to do 5 at a time every now and again.
