Round The World Trip 2006
Melbourne was great. Took a day to see the sights of the City, then, next morning, went for a stroll along St. Kilda Beach.
After a fair bit of driving, we ended up at The Ninety Mile Beach and camped in the back of the car in a woodland camping area. This was also the first place we witnessed a couple of 'Roos bounding across the road at around 7pm when it was already pitch-black.
Next day, after rising pretty early, we were on the road for around 400Km's, driving through rainforest and wildlife country.
We arrived at Eden a little later than planned after almost wrecking the car (which is a wreck anyway) looking for a campsite down a 20km dirt track. It was an experience, but the fun-factor had worn off on the way back after night had fallen. That 2-hour detour did allow us to see our first wild Wombat however!!! (They're like Giant Moles!) We ended up staying at "ShadRacks", the most up-to-date campsite we've seen yet! (Even had it's own un-spoilt beach). After roughing it for the past 2 nights, we used the facilities to our advantage
So, now after a few 100K's, we're in Batemans Bay, just had a coffee and a tonne of potato wedges, and when I finish writing this, we'll set off for Canberra, the Capital of Oz. Let you know what we get upto in due course...Byez
