First off, I like San Francisco. It's a little bit grubby, especially when you compare it to Hawaii but if anything it reminds me a little of London. The hills, the seafront, the shops, the atmosphere is all very differentm from anything I've experienced before. Hotels, food, attractions, etc are fairly cheap. In fact, the only thing that's expensive is Internet access at the limited number of cafe's around the city; this is why I'm currently sitting at a free internet kiosk in the Westfield shopping centre, proudly abusing the 15 minute time limit that goes un-monitored. Jon's just gone to book 2 tickets for Casino Royale 007 @ only $7.50 each, awesome!
So far, I've ventured the majority of San Francisco, including Millbrae where our first hotel was located. It was also beside a Diner, which brings me to my first conclusion to why the average American is a Fat Ass... I couldn't order an Orange juice at the diner, I had to go with Orange Soda. It also tasted like plastic and ended up de-hydrating me so much, I had a splitting head-ache the next morning.
After a couple of nights in that particular Travel Lodge, we booked into another hotel in the San Fran city centre. For $69 a night, it would do nicely.
Highlights of this very American city so far have been a trip to Alcatraz where I bled my camera dry of both battery and memory. I've been on a tram, which was fun despite being a rip-off price wise... it had to be done!
Next on the list is a sunset cruise and a days Bike Hire where we hope to travel across the Bay Bridge and return via the Golden Gate Bridge, funness!
I shall update you in time, hopefully before I leave the U.S.
