Thursday 21st June
Back at sea again on the way to Iceland. Some swell & waves but still quite acceptable as she is a good sea boat. Life on board is fairly leisurely with a piano recital, a lecture on the great liners & a night at the cinema.
Friday 22nd June
Arrived off Akureyri in the Eyjarfjordur on the northern coast of Iceland at about 7.00am but as in Norway the winds were too high, at 45+knots, for the captain to berth the ship & so for the second time we just stooged around off shore, to fill the day. To us the sea didn't look too bad & we were quite sorry to miss out but the safety of the ship is the main consideration.
We are just north of the Arctic Circle so had literally a very bright night although without the sun. The skies seem perpetually grey although not threateningly so.
Apparently in the night we passed a fairly large iceberg but we didn't see it & were only told about it, by the captain, on the next day.
