Day 22, 26 July 2012, Lushoto to Karatu, via Arusha - We are nestled in the lap of luxury at Kudu Lodge in Karatu - the town closest to the game parks of Northern Tanzania. Today's photo is of "the big elephant" which spouts water into the swimming pool. It's probably a "you had to be there" thing - but the list of thou shalt nots at the swimming pool entrance was so long, they almost needed two boards to display it. Our room, or shall I say suite, was the best we have seen in East Africa and we even had a fire in the fireplace which was welcome after an extended day. It began with wheels up at 7 am and we arrived at 7 pm or thereabouts - but we had the opportunity to stop in Arusha for a coffee gelato and also a visit to the Tanzanite counter at the Cultural Heritage centre... who's a lucky girl then! We travelled over wide open plains and saw many Masai and their herds of cattle, goats and sheep. Whilst not fast enough with the camera (been an awfully long day), the highlight image was a Masai man in full regalia playing pool at a roadside bar. Tomorrow we enter the Serengeti. The animals had better watch out.
