Day 4, 8 July 2012, Contrary to popular opinion, the sun does not shine every day in Africa. In fact it started out grey and wet and just got "er". Today we grooved Cape Town on the double decker red bus city tour. And I'm serious, we were on the bus. There was very little inclination to get off! Having said that we explored the V&A (that's Victoria & Alfred - not Albert) Waterfront (Alfred, the son, started the first habour bowl and Victoria started the second). Cape Town can truly be a wild and woolly place and today Table Mountain was noticeable by it's absence. Apparently it is there - just hiding under a massive tablecloth of cloud. No cable way for us today. The highlight of the day was a visit to Cape Town's Pink Lady. No, not a large touristy apple. In fact a gracious hotel painted pink - very English, very posh, very us - and very close to our hotel (but very different indeed). Afternoon tea is an occasion at "Nellies" and we snaffled several tummy's worth of crustless salmon sandwiches, savoury morsels and sweet nothings. And several pots of exotic teas - timed to perfection with specified steeping intervals measured by our very own 3 minute egg timer. As you can see James looks very debonair next to the fire place. Scratches from my finger nails can now be seen on the front door as I was loathe to leave. Some late arriving guests were witnessed running up the drive as we left - see the photo album and let's all go "ooooh" together. Which is almost (but not quite) what the late arriving guests thought when a local cabbie almost collected them on his front bumper. Ta Ta for now - we are off to Livingstone, Zambia prior to the crack of dawn tomorrow xxx VVN & James (Not Being Grownups) in Cape Town, South Africa
