Day 1, 5 July 2012, Sydney to Capetown (via Johannesburg). First view of Africa from the plane window - great flight - bit tired. Jo-burg airport arrival gave us our introduction to orange coated "pesky porters" (I just coined that, but feel free to use it). Can I help you? No thank you. I will show you to your check in. No thank you - we are fine. You need to come this way. That's OK - we know where we going. Eventually get to British Airways check in for the flight to Cape Town. Ahh... Sir, perhaps you will give me something for my assistance? Not on your nelly b*****lugs. No means No. Actually No means nick off, stop whinging and if you don't go away I will scream. Alright then. Spent a glorious 20 minutes in the shower at the British Airways lounge and waited for next flight - British Airways to Cape Town (seats 1A & 1B in a 737 that would have to have been 40 years old - urge to do the Time warp as we walked on) Finally arrived! Ended up checking into Ashanti Lodge Cape Town in the Company Gardens area at about 11 pm - not so much jet-lagged as jet-"exhausted" - BRING ON THE WINE TOUR TOMORROW!
