Day 33, 6 August 2012, Train arrival at Aswan, Transfer to the ship for the Nile Cruise, Visits to Aswan's High Dam and the Temple of Philae - We arrived at the Isis Hotel Aswan for a brief freshen up and at that point did the twain divide - to meet again in a few days. We paid our upgrade money and checked into the 5 star Nile Cruise ship the MS Nile Style - our first cruise ever and on waters so smooth even I couldn't get ship-sick. Gorgeous room, big bed and stunning view of the Nile. Not actually moving at all when we arrived as it stayed docked in Aswan overnight. Just enough time for lunch then back on the bus for a visit to Aswan's High Dam that created the massive Lake Nasser and then on to a small island by local boat to visit Philae Temple - one of the 14 odd temples flooded by the construction of the dam. The temple was cut into numbered blocks and reassembled on higher ground. Makes Ikea furniture look positively simple. And they didn't even have left over pieces! Quickie trip to Aswan's spice market followed by dinner on board and off to bed - tomorrow is a 3 am start for a trip to Abu Simbel in the far (far) south of Egypt. (Any further and we'd be in Sudan!)
