Rich & Alli's Travels
After seeing a magnificent street parade in Puno celebrating the festival of mother earth, we had spent our last day in Peru.
The following morning we left Puno for Copacabana, Bolivia. Only 3 hours later and a surprisingly easy border crossing, we arrived at our destination.
We had planned to splash out on the 32 USD honeymoon suite but got totally distracted by the option of a room for 2.75 GBP instead. Well would be rude not to take advantage! The room was really nice, cable TV, ensuite bathroom, bright room and a view of Lake Titicaca! All for less than 3 quid!
The next morning we took a boat trip to Isla del Sol which incidentally only cost us 1GBP. The trip was 1hr 30 mins but felt like ages. The boat was old and rickety and full of shall we say, less than sweet smelling locals. Was also a little worrying that the driver was steering the boat with his foot and only one of the engines was working, would probably have been quicker to swim it !
Anyway eventually we arrived at Isla del Sol and had approx 1 hour to investigate. The island had some Inca terraces that left us gasping for breath as Copacabana is approx 4,000m above sea level and steps on the Island were exceptionally steep. After a quick look around and a few snaps of the surrounding views we climbed back down to the boat and endured the gruelling journey back.
In hindsight maybe we should have invested another pound!
Next stop La Paz!
