Alreet???
We have left Northern Vietnam after a week up there, we have now worked our way down the coast to Hue. We left Hanoi on a sleeper bus, a new one for both of us like. The bus was canny good if you werent tired, if you were a combernation of being uncomfortable and the driver constantly tooting his bloody horn kept you awake, but we would be complaining if we were sat up straight for 12 hours.
We got to Hue and found a hotel extremely quickly, and it was in the Bible so we scored there like. After a few hours Kip we decided to go for a wander around Hue, the place was a bit of a Ghost town, but alot of people seemed to head for thr Citadel. Not ones to follow the crowd or nowt but we went to the Citadel, it was canny impressive like and very big. We went inside to the 'Imperial City' and had a look around there which was also cool, i would explain what the Citadel and the City was, But i dont really know. Further along was a field with some old US Army Vehicles, like tanks, Helicopters and other Big Guns. On the way back to the Hotel some guy asked us to go for a 'talk with him', we quickly sidestepped that one, but as i turned out he wanted some English money, alot of people 'collect' it apparently. We went for a few beers at the DMZ bar that night, but not alot was happening and we had to get up at 5 the next day so we just went to bed.
The next day, AT 5 IN THE MORNING, we wenton a tour of the DMZ (Demilitarised Zone) After Breakfast we met up with our guide, who took us off on a bus to the Tunnels the Viet Cong used to get across the border unnoticed (i think). I Didnt go in But Rik went down and said it was canny cool, in both senses of the word. After Lunch we headed off again, the afternoon was very Dissapointing to be honest. Our Guide would pull the bus over and tell us to take a picture of a Field or Hill, and not really explain what we were taking a picture of. We got to our final stop on the tour, which was an old US Airbase, which was good to see the runway and some old Bunkers and stuff, it was the only place that really gave you a feel there was a war here. On the way back we got talking to a Kiwi couple who said the same about the tour, so i guess it werent us just being uncultured other people found it a bit boring at times too. It was a good tour but just spent far too much time on the bus and not alot finding out about the war. That night we were Knackered so we pritty much went straight to bed.
We had decided to leave the next day, but we didnt know where too. On the bus south we Decided to get off in Danang and head further south to Nha Trang, Danag being the best place to get transport from. Danang was not designed for Travellers it was just a working town, so luckily we only had to spend one night there.
So next we are off to Nha Trang for some time on the Beach and a much needed Night out. Before heading on to Saigon to meet Gaz.
Soooo Night Night Campers, See you in Nha Trang xx
P.S. If you like computers come to South East Asia, you will soon change your mind.
