You know that in a 36 day trip something is going to go wrong somewhere. You just don't expect it to happen twice on the first day. Its an auspicious start when your car breaks down on the drive to the airport meaning you have to dump it in a side street in Arncliffe and call a couple of Ubers to get you the last 2 km's to the airport.

The first flight to Hong Kong on Cathay was pretty uneventful, we slept most of it. Our Finnair flight arrived and looked very festive with a reindeer painted on the back. That was the end of the goodwill to all mankind.

A 5 hour stopover in Hong Kong became a 7 hour stop over as we had a 'technical problem on our Finnair A350 flight. Apparently the brakes kept locking.

With only a 90 minute transfer in Helsinki we landed in time to watch our direct flight to Oslo taxi out.. The only available flight was with a connection of 4 hours in Stockholm. So an extra flight and 6 extra hours….Yay!!

The Oslo hotel was great, but anything would have been after 4 flights, 35 hours and 15,979kms travelled….in one looooong day. Understandably we are all wrecked.

Tomorrow will be a better day.
