Hello again! Apologies for the delay in writing - I was at a conference for several days last week so didn't have a huge amount to report. One of the speakers was the person whose orphanage I am visiting in Mozambique in March, so it was great to hear her! I also met some more brilliant people from Canana, US and even UK! Hopefully we will be able to keep in touch, it's amazing how close you can get in just a few days - it feels like we've known each other for ever!
Other than that, I've done most of the touristy things in Toronto - been up the tower, across to the islands and wondered around Chinatown. The tower was very impressive, I went up at about 5:30pm and so was able to watch the sun set over Lake Ontario and the city light up. The islands were very pretty, however they are rather dead at this time of year! Fabio and I got stuck there for several hours though as we mis-read the ferry times...still we did eventually make it back. There was a rather confusing sign on the Islands with the distances to various cities like London, Windsor, Stratford etc - the distances seemed surprisingly short, and it took me a couple of minutes to compute that Canada has apparantly stolen all the british placenames!
I've spent the last few days down at Niagara Falls and am now back in Toronto for my flight out to New Zealand this afternoon! :-) I stayed with another couchsurfing host, Rebecca, who was just as lovely as the last one! The falls were just stunning - we went down both during the day and at night when they are all lit up. It is the beginning of the festival of lights down there so there are all sorts of displays everywhere. Sadly the maid of the mist doesn't run this late in the year - it's just too cold! However, I did do "the journey behind the falls" which was brilliant. The noise is just unbelievable! It allows you to get right down behind the falls and then onto an observation deck just at the side. I've managed to get some good photos, but unfortunately the internet cafe I'm in at the moment doesnt give me access to a USB port. I will upload tham as soon as I can!
Hope all is well in UK - no idea what the weather is doing but it can't be as cold as here! I'm definitely looking forward to heading into NZ summer...
PS - I hope the spelling is ok in this, I don't have time to check it through and this keyboard is very odd...
