Hi everyone
Well, its been a long couple of days since our last update from the base of Kilimanjaro. It seems the cloud gods were listening to us complaining about the peak being covered in clouds, and the weather cleared up for the afternoon and we got to see the snow capped peak.
Since then we have spent the vast majority of our time driving. We've covered about 3700km, spent about 50 hours driving, and we are now back in Livingstone, Zambia. We're staying at a great site here which overlooks the Zambezi river, and will be spending a few days here to catch our breath, watch the Tri-Nations rugby (they have DSTV here J) and then we'll be heading to the Okavango Delta in Botswana.
Besides a couple of days on the shore of Lake Malawi we've spent most of the time in the car, so we thought we'd post some of the pics we've got of life in general and some of the signs we've seen along the road. Hope you enjoy them. We've seen an incredible range of things being moved around by bicycle, pretty much anything you can imagine, can be moved by bike. So, in true consultant fashion, here is a bulleted list:
- 2x goat + firewood
- 1x goat on tided onto front handlebars
- 1x front door
- 1x couch (2 seater)
- 6x dining room table chairs
- 4 bags of charcoal (see pic!)
- 3 crates of coke bottles
- ~ 100kg bag of maize
- 1x family of 4 (mom, dad and 2 kids)
- 6x 25l water canisters
- 1x bicycle (on the back..)
- 4x spare car tyres
- 3x 3m long steel pipes (like those used for gutters)
- Enough bags of cotton to supply a small department clothing store
That's about all for now. Hope you are all well.
Cheers
Rhett & Johan
