Once Andre's brother learned that we were about to leave Langenau, and were looking for one last stopover before arriving in the Netherlands, he did not hesitate and recommended us to stay in Boppard, a small town in the Rhine Valley (the entire valley is often called "The Romantic Rhine"), just south of Koblenz. In a good year, the aforementioned brother clocks up tens of thousands of kilometers on the German motorways, so that we did not take his word lightly. Boppard is a cute little tourist town in the valley of the Lorelei rock, sandwiched between the meandering Rhine and the Hunsruck mountains. In the 1960s, a river cruise along this part of the Rhine was a romantic dream for many couples in the Netherlands. Nita and Andre stayed on dry land, however, and spent most of their time in Boppard walking around the tiny city center with an Italian ice-cream in their hands.
