So I'm writing this whilst on the bus from Matraville into Sydney CBd. The past week has been awesome! Our last few days in port Macquarie involved going to a winery (obviously very enjoyable, can't say I am a wine expert but I certainly enjoyed drinking the wine!) We also visited a koala hospital which I really enjoyed and learnt a lot from!
New Years Eve was certainly something to remember! We drove back from Port and as soon as I got back I got changed and jumped on the train into the city to meet my friend Lyndsey (who I had met in Melbourne). Lyndsey and friends had set up camp earlier in the day at Milsons Point which is right next to the Sydney harbour bridge! Everyone that she was with was lovely and super friendly. The plane acrobat show, fireworks and atmosphere were awesome! I was a little sad that no one sung 'old lang syme' (I don't know how to spell it) so I proceeded to sing it the whole way home (slightly unfortunate that I only knew a few words and the tune!). The next day I was feeling a little worse for wear....(maybe smuggling alcohol in by putting bottles in pringle pots was not the best idea). But we felt it was only correct to celebrate the English new year so we has some wine at 11am that morning and that set the tune for the rest of the day! Surprisingly after a few ciders I felt as right as rain!
Getting the train back to David's that afternoon was an experience...a guy say next to me, considering there were many empty seats around me I found it a little odd, and unfortunately he was not hot! Well during that train ride I found out about his whole life, it was pritty interesting, he asked about my hobbies, and told me about his, which led onto him telling me about an accident that he had which had left him in a coma. And for him this had been a turning point, he explained that from the accident and the months after he learnt what happiness was and that he now understands that the most important love is love for yourself, without this he felt that you can't fully live someone else, which I do believe. Like how can you make someone else happy if you arnt happy in yourself. So, yes, our conversation was getting pretty deep. But then he explained how he had turned to God, which again I found interesting, and it was pritty incredible how religion had given him so much comfort and faith during a pretty hard time. But then he started asking me so many questions about what I thought, why I felt and what I was thinking at that moment! Luckily my stop was the next stop!
So the days that followed that involved visiting Sue and family who is originally from Broadstairs. My journey to sue's was particularly funny, I think I walked up and down the same street about 3 times working out which bus to get and buying a ticket! Buses with both backpacks arnt the easiest, I think I took out a few people as I enters the bus! I also had to ask the bus driver to hola to me to warn me when my stop was up because I had no idea! I had such a lovely time with sue and her family! All 3 children are super cute and a lot of fun! Oscar, the youngest, is such a brave little guy in the water and is obsessed with surfing! Sam is a little more protective over his things, but loved learning about animals and watching deadily 60! And Harriet is a munchkin but really sweet little girl!
I went to marouba beach, coogee beach (with some people I met on nye) and cleverly beach! My last evening with Sue and James was lovely, they cooked a BBQ....my first Australian BBQ :)
Yesterday I headed into the city to meet Dave and sue and family to go to circus oz which was pretty spectacular, the guys and girls in the circus were so strong, and flung themselves all over the stage!
