It's nearly December but we've been lazing by a pool, slapping on the sun tan lotion and enjoying some tropical heat. This is what travelling is all about!
Although we're nearly at the end of our trip (three weeks left!) we've got plenty more to see in this tiny Central American country. We arrived two weeks ago and have been staying with Matt's friends David and Veronika in their lovely home in San Jose (thanks guys!).
San Jose is a pretty chaotic city - car drivers honking their horns, street traders trying to sell cigars to passers-by, and the overpowering smell of diesal polluting the air. But don't let that put you off.
Costa Rica is a beautiful country full of friendly people, diverse wildlife (I'm waiting to see my first Sloth!) and stunning rainforests. Not to mention the active volcanoes where you can see lava pouring from the crater!
This week Matt and I left the bustling city for a spot of beach life in Jaco, on the Pacific coast. The town is described as the surfing capital of Costa Rica but we didn't take to the waves. Instead we were completely lazy and spent the whole three days just lying by the pool by day and enjoying tasty meals by night. Lovely!
We also visited Poas National Park to see a volcano but thick cloud cover meant we didn't see the bubbling waters in the crater. Oh well, we've got lots more trips lined up for the next few weeks. And not only that, Matt will be soon be wearing his top hat and tails for Dave and Veronika's wedding. Should be fun!
Till next time, Lots of love, Nikki xxx
