Nikki's World Travels
Ok well.... last time i wrote we were off to burma and they went ok sin problema. We went to a monkey temple and had alook there anmd went in some caves - not bigf ones thought but some of us decided to take some pictures in the dark so the flash would work - very funny outcomes! I also did this thing in the monastery were u shake this pot thing until a number stick falls out and then u take off the wall the fortune which the number correspionds to - so i did this and got number 17 but the fortune was only in thai (everyone else had theirs done and got dif numbers) so i did it again and there are like 50 odd numbers in the pot and number 17 came out again - spooky!!) Anyway, we stopped at some gardens that the queen mother had set up they were beautiful and loads of lagre butterflies around. To get there we had to go up a v.v.v steep hill and i thought the bus wouldnt make it so i just delved into my booka nd ignored what was going on! We stayed in mae sai that nite as that was the border town and the accommodation that we stayed in was on the mekong river and my room had a balcony and overlooked the river onto burma so that was really cool. In the evening we drank at the hostel as mae sai is not good to go out in as the burmese come over and cause trouble - so we bought sang som (v good thai whiskey - v easy to drink - a lil too easy shall we say!) and got (well some of us did) quite drunk but it was fun (guess what Em, i didnt throw up! - yay me!). The next day however, i felt like s***! We went to the golden triangle where u can see Burma, Thailand and Laos all at once so a realy amazing site - i couldnt apprecaiate that much as thought i was gonna throw up so i took lots of pictures to have a look at a later stage! We also went on a very fast boat down the mekong river - luckily by this point i was feeling a lil better. After all this we headed back to the village ready for another weeks work but this week we only have three days as mid project break is coming up - yay!
