ok so where to begin....
so after varanasi i headed to kanpur to met up with robin as he was there for a conference. robin stated it was a great conference and for me it was time to sleep and recover a bit from travelling. From here we planned to head to the golden triangle... but it was suggested to us (told) that we should accompany a group of 30 proffessors and there families. both from US and india, to a plce called kedarnath. which for centuries has been a pilgrimage for hindu's
Kedarnath is revered as the source of the mardakin river however the reason people trek here which is a 14km walk ona stone laid path is the temple dedicated to shiva at the top the temple houses a rock which is surposed to represent SHIVA's BACK....or hump at he left behind trying to dive into the ground trying to escape pandavas.....
and while here we performed "puja" which means respect. We prayed for Shiva to bless and protect our families and us. it was a uniquie expreience for us as it started at 6:30am and as it had just snowed the nite before we were in a bit of a delemer. to do into the temple we had to take off our shoes yes that ment taking off our shoes and walking in snow into the temple performing the cereimony then walking back out in the snow in bare feet to our shoes i tell u in f***'n hurt it was so cold.
the walk it self was wonderful but the 2 day 16hr car journey there suxed arse.....
kedarnath is a small town only open from may to mid oct the whole town closes down in winter while up there we actually had the first snow storm of the season and i tell u it was F***'n cold even with thermals as ther eis no form of heating.. the photo's when i finally have the resources to download there will be intereesting as going up there is no snow but on the second day it was covered ... i will say it was a beautifyl spot surrounded my glacier snow capped mountains.....
the trip was also one i would not have done as a tourist as tourist dont do pilgrimages to places like this..... it was also free as the professors paid for it all which made it even better... so i need to thank all the professors who made this such an enjoyable trip for u...thanx
talk soon when we get to rishikesh... sim i know why u stayed here

Vamsi Kosuri BEWARE of Himachal House Hotel in Kedarnath I visited Kedarnath in June 2012. During this trip, I had a horrible experience with Himachal House hotel. I am sharing this experience so that nobody else should suffer the way I suffered with this hotel. Here are the problems I faced here: • Only one bucket of hot water in 24hrs. Rest of the time, pipes run with freezing water, which will make you hands numb in 5 seconds. • No towels provided • Hotel does not have any heating system and no extra blankets are given • At first, he talked as if the welcome chai and dinner were included in our package. The owner Umesh Posti said: “Come have your dinner. It’s ready!”. Then he charged an unreasonable amount for chai and dinner, almost double the price of our next door hotel for a very bad service. When asked why he cheated us, he talked us arrogantly like ROWDY saying he can do whatever he wants to do. • The owner Umesh Posti who lured us with his sweet talk when we checked-in warned us of using physical force when we questioned about the injustice done to us. I had a horrible experience with this place and the owner. He ruined my Kedarnath experience. I recommend everyone to STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!!
