We flew into Bangkok Airport from Sri Lanka just minutes too late to catch the daily flight up to Chiang Mai in the north of Thailand where we want to head off to first and hopefully do a bit of trekking in the hills near the golden triangle. We had no problem getting onto the flight for the following day and were actually happy to spend a night in bustling Bangkok which we've both been to before and love! We jumped on the airport bus and headed for backpackers...

Sri Lanka is gorgeous and we're really sad we don't have enough time to see it properly, but have thoroughly enjoyed our short stint here nonetheless! Probably the most fun thing that we've done is spending a day at the Elephant Orphanage (although they're not all orphans these days) watching the huge herd of elephants playing and bathing in the river after which we managed to make it past the vendors and 'spice garden' touts and watch the babies get fed in ...

Our flight from Delhi arrived in Colombo at 4am, and the plan was to head to the bus station nearby to catch a bus straight to Kandy, up in the hills. We had left Agra and were on the way to Dehli. The train journey was quick only 4 hours or so. The station was huge and even with the other million or so passengers queuing for the train or the exit, touts quickly found us enquiring about our accommodation and taxi requirements... What can we say about Agra, home of the Taj Mahal? Well, actually, nothing good! The Taj Mahal is even more magnificent than it looks in the pictures and was without a doubt one of the highlights of our trip, but Agra itself is (also without a doubt) the most horrible town we've ever been to in our lives!
