Last night I arrived to wonderful Prague - or so I thought. It was in fact Prague, but it wasnt very wonderful. When I came to the train station, it immediately started to rain heavily and thunder and lightening was all around. My former room mate Anna picked me up with a friend named Adam, and we stayed at his place for the night. But before going to bed, Adam took us to this really cool bar called "Cross" - which was nothing like any bar i had ever seen before. (http://wanderlustandlipstick.com/blogs/traveltracks/files/2008/03/cross-club-1.jpg) it was like going in a mechanic's shop which was made into a huge bar. And there were 3 floors with different kind of music. And of course there was czech beer - oh the joy!! One beer is about 28 CZK which is about 8 DKK or 1 EUR. And this is a BIG beer!
Before I came to Prague yesterday, I was in Berlin for about 2 hours. When I arrived in Berlin, I saw the train to Prague waiting on the opposite side of the platform, but it would leave right away. And having bought a seat reservation for the next train, I decided to wait there and walk around. The problem with that was, that I forgot to exchange my Danish money into euros and I had no money left on my bank card (pay day is today :) so after a while I met a norwegian girl who was heading for Denmark to go to the Roskilde festival. With the national bank's official exchange rates on my iPhone, I persuaded her that an exchange between us would be a good plan for both of us. But then I had to go to Prague, and yet again I had no money, as they dont use euros in the Czech Republic. Anyways, today I am going around to see Prague - so far I ran across the Charles Bridge (really old) and I've been to some squares around the city. Next up is the castle. Tomorrow I think I will go to Brno and Svitavy where Anna lives. She had to go back home to go to work this morning. So now I am all by myself in a country where I have absolutely no idea of what the signs say. At least I understand some german, so I think it will be easier when I go to Austria in a few days!
