Hi All time for a update I think as its been a while well where did I last leave you think it was Hanoi In Vietnam well the weather was really s***ty there lots of rain and floods all the way through Vietnam so I did the country quickly think it only took about 10/12 days. Well after Hanoi I went to Hoi An this was a great little town where you can have anything made you just choose a design and they make it they even have the Next catalogue and will copy designs from that for you also I was shocked what would the bosses of Next think being a ex Next employee myself lol. I had myself a great Vietnamese suit made loks great. Well after Hoi An it was back on the night bus for 12 hours to Nah Trang which was a great place and if the Sun had been out would of been even better as there was a great beech there, I travelled through Vietnam with a Aussie girl Trish and a New Zealand girl Sarah so we really had some laughs we visited the mud baths for a day it was so much fun getting covered in mud then lazing in the hot spring baths after and then relaxing in th 38 degrees swimming pool I will put the photos on soon that was a great day. We also found a great fish and chip shop in Nah Trang the food was just like home well almost .... After Nah Trang it was back on the night bus another 12 hours at least you could sleep this bus as beds on I will post some pics of that also very strange a bus full of beds but was well needed for those long journeys through the night. We arrived at Saigon (Ho Chi Ming) which was a great place finally some Sunshine here we visited the War Museum very depressing to find all about the Vietnam war but also very interesting I was so interested yes I know what your all thinking "Nigel liking a museum" but it was amazing so many lifes affected and so many children born after the war with the terrible disorders caused by agent orange a strong chemical of war that the Americans spread over Vietnam and this then affected future generations with severe disabilities to there bodys very sad.. After the war museum the next day it was off to the Cu Chi tunnels these are the tunnels built under ground by the Viatnamese during the war they spread for over 250 km very tiny tunnels with chambers but they helped the Vietnamese during the war our guide was brilliant he explained so much about the war I feel very lucky to have been able to experience all this as he was a ex War veteran and actually lived through it not like other guides that have only read the text book... Ok hope your not getting board as I still have so much to tell you all...
After Saigon it was the 2 day trip into Cambodia by boat down the Mekon river I thought this was going to be wonderfull and scenic which it was for first couple of hours but it soon became a very long and boring trip down the river in a slow boat. We saw local life on the river and local floating markets also visited rice paper factory and saw how the local people make good use of the coconut tree for making several things including sweets that we tasted mm. After a long trip they asked us at the start of the second day if we wanted to upgrade to the fast speed boat which would cut the second day by half and although It was a extra 5 dollars we took the offer (thank god) so after reaching Phonm Penn we took a trip to the Teul Sleng museum this was also very sad also known as prison S21 the old school where paul Pott and his regime torchered all the inmates before them being killed at the killing fields and placed in mass graves where over 20,000 Men Women and Children were buried some of them buried alive also... Whats that your all thinking "Nigel at another museum getting educated" You have to look up this place on the Internet very very interesting... Well the next day it was a trip to the killing fields to see all the mass graves also there is a huge shrine full of all the skulls they have found so far over 8000 stacked high in a shrine although its beleived there are still 11000 out there still but its a very expensive process for them to dig up this huge sight.... So as you can imagine after seeing all this makes you realise how lucky we are after all this torture and killings only happened between 1975 and 1979 not that long ago. After Phomn Penn me and the girls decided our trip would go in different directions as they were heading to the North and me to the South. I headed to the most amazing beech called Shanoukville where it was fantastic the weather was brill a cool 38 degrees so some time to chill out after the fast paced travelling some me time at the beech to top up the tan. Met some great people here also stayed in a room with a girl from Norway she was great company also chatted to 2 couples on the beech that were travelling one couple in there 60s and one couple in there early 40s they had so much to share from the places they had travelled so your never to old to pack a bag and take of around the world all of you....
Ok so after the lovely 4 days there at the beech it was on a bus for 10 hours to Siem Reap which is where stands the famous Ankor Wat a collection of historic temples I think this might even be the place where they filmed tomb raider. Wow this place was just a amazing sight I opted for the healthy way and hired a bike and took the 6km ride from the city out there then did the small route which I think must be about 20km I saw some amazing temples but I must say I could not have spent 3 days here like the guide book says after all there are only so much you can see and after a 8 hour day here it was enough I will also upload some pics of this place soon. After 2 nights here it was time to take the trip back to the border of Thailand and surprise Orlando back in Bangkok he had no Idea I would be coming back. I took a share taxi with 1 other guy from Cambodia to Tai border which was good instead of a 6 hour bus ride on really bad roads it cut it down to just two hours so was well worth the 15 dollars I spent after the Border it was onto the VIP bus which also only took 4 hours back to Bangkok this bus was one of the most comfortable I have had to catch in Asia and although they charged us 300 baht instead of the local price of 100 it still only worked out to be 6 quid and I reached back to Orlandoes at 3pm well in time for his return home from work. If I had took the normal tourist bus It would of took me untill 9pm to reach back to Bangkok and I would not of got here till 11 which would of been no fun on my birthday..
The surprise was so good I hid upstairs at his friends place a few doors down and when she called him up to look at something in her room he was gob smacked to see me stood there and after the shock we came back to his place. So I have had a great birthday with him and tonight I am throwing a party as its Friday night and I have all this vodka brought in Vietnam and Cambodia to drink and share Im gonna show the filipinoes how we English celebrate a birthday with lots of alcohol and food and games. Ok I hope that as filled you all in on the trip so far I am no here for the next 4 days before I fly to South Thailand to hit the beeches of Ko Sumoi and Ko Pangyan where Orlando will meet me so we can enjoy christmas together in a beech hut by the ocean I can't wait what a way to spend xmas day ah.... Then its of to the Moon party where there will be over 20,000 people the biggest beech party of the year that South Thailand as.
