So anyway, I decided to surprise the family with a trip to Iceland as a Christmas present to all of us! I'd been there before obviously but they haven't so I decided I would treat us all!

So on Christmas Day 2017 I played a little video I had put together telling everybody about the week's trip - they were all very excited- as was I - but there have been a few "glitches" already, which hopefully will mean the trip itself will go as smooth as silk ..... in no particular order.....

- I got the date wrong - the date of Lola's half-term - so we're away the week after her half-term - to re-arrange would cost about £3,500, so we have to be bad parents instead and risk a fine for going on holiday in term time;
- Lola's passport was out of date and when we sent it off it was returned and I was fretting it wouldn't arrive on time;
- the flight numbers were wrong on the booking which I only found by chance;
- I thought I had a big tax bill - but this was a good one as it was a rebate and is giving us a nice little bit of spends!

So two weeks today we'll be asleep in Hotel Cabin, Reykjavik
