Sat in the very posh, clean and superbly efficient hong kong airport supping a tiger beer having let the girls loose with my credit card - oooopppps
We have had a great day - a local breakfast place and then took the star ferry over to central HK. Then walked to the star tram which took us all the way to the top of THE PEAK. Great views (as would be expected) over the world famous Hong kong harbour .... I wish the Royal Navy still had a presence here.... But sadly not.
Had lunch at the top in a shrimp restaurant and then made our way back to the hotel to pick up our bags. Grabbed a taxi to Kowloon station and then checked our bags in at the station ... Brilliant - somehow can't see British Airways introducing that. Shelley then discovered that there was a Disneyland in Hong Kong and so she became very grumpy for the manner in which we denied her that information!
Just learnt that our flight has been delayed 30 mins which wouldn't normally be a problem but we only have an hour to change flights in Sydney ... Still, a slight tailwind should see us there in time !!!
We have all really enjoyed Hong Kong. June wants to come back but next time she wants to go posh !!! Gulp !!!!! But I can see her point. It really is a superbly cosmopolitan city ..... Designer shops everywhere .... Lots of money here..... Even the local YMCA had a Ferrari parked outside !!!!!
Local transport is very cheap .... The star ferry cost is 25p and the train journey to the airport was 70p each.
Food though is normal European prices with a beer costing £6 and a meal for 3 about £50.
So that
